Celebrate Local: Heather Sears
Welcome to my “Local Highlights” Blog! As a doula, an amazing part of my job is to not only provide my clients with the information needed for them to make informed decisions, but to connect them with people who can make it happen. If you have taken any of my classes, you will know that building a fully supportive birth team is at the core of my practice. There are so many, extremely unique, and wonderful people filled with passion for every step of your birth journey, right here in the KC Metro Area! Today, I would like to introduce you to one of them, Heather Sears.
Heather Sears is a wife to Forest Sears, mother of four daughters, Tirzah, Jaylah, Kierah, and Lyrah, a Chihuahua named Princess and a cat named Sunshine. She is also small business owner filled with dreams, dedication, and drive. Heather knew from a young age that she had a passion for birth and a love for art. When she isn’t mothering her children, hating doing dishes, or relaxing with a Sudoku, Heather is working to pursue her dreams in birth photography and of becoming a midwife. She attends classes at Milestones Midwifery, studying under Cheryl Gates in her midwifery apprenticeship program.
On top of all that, she is also the owner of Heather Sears Photography where she provides birth photography and films, labor support, and bereavement support. She even plans to rediscover her love of musical composing for her birth films! Her work has been featured on websites such as Birth Becomes Her, Huffpost, and Buzzfeed.
Birth photography and film is a remarkable service and an incredible work of art. Heather’s clients have described her work as “freaking magical”, “stunning”, and “AMAZING”. They describe her as “fun and easy to work” with in posed shoots, and “almost invisible” in the birth room, capturing “the beauty in our family that seems chaotic to Everyone else!!”.
She also sells Amber Jewelry! Here is just a small sampling of her beautiful work!
